Western Gailles is located near Irvine on the West Coast of Scotland. The club celebrated its centenary in 1997 and still plays a part as a qualifying course when the Open Championship is being played in the West of Scotland at nearby Royal Troon or Turnberry. Over the years Western Gailles has seen its fair share of golfing talent. Gene Sarazen and Walter Hagen played in one of the very first contests over the course in 1923.
